Idea One - the change of music genres

What is the main issue you will be exploring in this documentary? The main issue of my documentary will be how the pop music and the main genres of music have changed quite a lot over the last 10-20 years. I will explore this issue by interviewing people on what their interests in music and how they feel towards rap and rock.

Why do you want to explore this issue? I enjoy both rap and rock music so i am quite open about both genres, however i know people either like one or the other. This will give me a balanced argument and give reasons for either side.

What do other people think of this idea? After discussing the topic with other people they all said that the topic is relevant and that it would be interesting to see how music genre trends appear and change over time.

Idea Two - streetwear in the UK

What is the main issue you will be exploring in this documentary? In the documentary i will be covering the issue of how ‘hyped’ clothing has gained humongous popularity, including brands such as Supreme, Palace, Bape and more. The popular clothing is also having a huge effect on young people's self esteem and social lifes as some kids feel like they need to have the latest clothing to look ‘cool’ which can lead to bullying.

Why do you want to explore this issue? I think that some of the brands make some decent clothing however some brands such as supreme make some bad clothing and slap their label on it and can sell almost anything. Discovering why people buy the brands and have

What mode would be best suited for this documentary? Expository would work with this as i will feature interviews and footage showing how people feel towards the brands.

What do other people think of this idea? After talking about the idea with my friends who are quite big into streetwear they said they liked the sound of the idea as it could educate them into the brands they wear.

Idea Three - Skiing

What is the main issue you will be exploring in this documentary?

The documentary will showcase skiing and make people want to explore more and go skiing. The documentary will also show the effects of global warming and how it effects colder environments and sports like skiing or snowboarding.

Why do you want to explore this issue?

I have a strong passion for skiing and want to get more people into the sport. I also want to explore the effects of global warming on these sports and how we can change our ways as a population and fix this planet.

What mode would be best suited for this documentary?

I think poetic would best suit this documentary as it would be showing how beautiful the mountain ranges are and how we don't want to lose them.

what do other people think of the idea?

My friends who also enjoy skiing all have said they would want to watch this documentary and think it is an important documentary to make to spread awareness.

What are your aspirations for your documentary?

In my documentary i would like to cover a smaller topic. This will make it appeal to less people however the people it does appeal to will have a larger interest than if i do a larger topic which more people will be able to watch however they might not care as much about it. I would like the documentary to be quite cinematic and be poetic, whilst featuring elements of reflexive documentary styles.

What are your barriers which you will have to push past to achieve my aspirations?

The barriers will be Time, Money, and Organisation.  I will need to make sure the documentary covers a topic which will be interesting to the audience and will captivate them. I will have a limited amount of time to film the documentary and will not be able to cover a topic for longer than 4-5 weeks. I also do not have the funds to travel and go to other locations, use expensive equipment, or to view topics. I will have to be organised to make sure filming runs smoothly and i am able to portray my message through the documentary.
